Origins of Larry the Math Guy
Once upon a time, not too long ago and not too far away, in Carla Tappero’s 3rd grade classroom at Patrick Elementary in Gold Hill, I was starting work as a K-5 math resource consultant. When Carla introduced me to her students, one blurted out, “Larry? Oh, Larry the Math Guy!” And a class-wide and, quickly, a school-wide meme was born. As time went on, most of the students and even some of the teachers at Patrick were calling me “Larry the Math Guy”. So I joined the fun.
